This striking work, referencing the ‘demonic’ figures from the Churning of the Ocean of Milk narrative at Angkor Thom, deliberately contrasts with conventional interpretations of malevolence. On the surface, the use of murky, almost putrid like colors embodies the formidable presence of evil. But, a deliberate and intricate scattering of hidden hearts throughout encourages a more nuanced perception. This artwork serves as a reminder that even the most formidable exteriors can conceal unexpected compassion or inherent good.
