This contemporary artwork draws inspiration from the revered temple lions guarding the entrances of Bayon Temple, emblematic figures of protection and solemnity. The artist mixes contrasting colors, textures, and shapes–rustic and vibrant, sharp and soft, round and pointed–to embody how these ancient protectors serve an often dual, conflicting purpose: to both welcome the good and prevent evil from entering sacred grounds.
